Jeremy Mercy is an Omaha artist, singer, songwriter and performer who needed some photos recently. We walked down the block from his house to an alley and managed to get some killer photos. Just goes to show that you don't need elaborate locations to get some great shots, all depending on the look the artist is looking for.
A Mental Health Photography Trip in Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas I recently felt the need to get out and take a photo trip for my mental health. Here is a video from the day and a gallery of photos from my trip. https://youtu.be/pfHkOFR_MMY
I also shot all of these on the Classic Negative film simulation to get a consistent look out of the portraits, and I wanted to share my process. First, we shot a lot of these in the full evening sun. The girls wanted a bright and contrasty look with some harsh shadows, so that’s what we did! Knowing this, I underexposed just a bit to protect the…
Some of the Last Photographs of the Israel Beetison Home in Ashland, Nebraska https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_IIreTfE7AThe Beetison House in Ashland, Nebraska burned down recently, and I'm beyond sad. This place held five generations of the same family. It stood tall on this hill for many, many years, and I'm lucky to have have recently gone out to photograph it's historic ruins.
If you haven't checked out Kurt's work, do it now. He's fantastic, and he reached out to hire me for a branding session for the company's new website. We went for a casual look into his day: taking photos in his studio, editing, and generally being a good human being. (All photos using the Fujifilm X-Pro3 with the XF 35mm f/1.4 and XF 90mm f/20)
Here are some sample images taken with the Sigma 24mm f/2 Contemporary lens on Sony E-Mount. The clickable aperture ring is fantastic here, and the build quality and feel of the lens punches above its weight in cost. Very sharp images make this a solid choice for those looking for a wide-angle lens that's relatively fast at f/2.
The 90mm f/2.8 Contemporary lens is an affordable option from Sigma. The weight and balance of the lens speaks to a professional look and feel, but the price is less than what you might expect. Combine the quality of the optics with affordability and you have an attractive option for Sony's E-Mount system!
https://youtu.be/G4TS2fIrDGM The Fujifilm XF 90mm f/2 lens is a stunner from Fuji. It's one of the fastest lenses Fuji has for autofocus, it blurs backgrounds incredibly well, and the overall quality of the images is stunning. Check out the video above and the example photos taken with the Fujifilm 90mm f/2:
Had a great time doing some portraits for a local musician and friend, Jeremy Mercy using the Fujifilm XF 33mm F/1.4 lens on the Fujifilm X-Pro3. The 33 1.4 lens locks focus quickly and accurately, which is fantastic for quick portraits. The background blur (bokeh) on this lens is also outstanding, creating a very sharp and pleasing in-focus area that transitions to a smooth and creamy background…
